I recently spent a great day on my family's Kentucky farm! We have owned the farm since Homestead Act in 1862 - a landmark in evolution of federal agriculture law. Passed by Congress during Civil War, it had an idealistic goal: it sought to shape the U.S. West ...by populating it with farmers. The Cypress Residential Group and the Cypress Property Group recently tag teamed up to spend some time at WLEX –TV here in Lexington, KY. The day was full of great information, lots of fun and included a private tour of the television station. In 1955 WLEX became Lexington’s very first television station and Third overall station in Kentucky.

Today, was just another hot summer day in the heart of horse county. Topping at 95 degrees it sure made you want to stay inside and work. However, I am a total summer girl and I love being outdoors. I am the kind of person who loves to roll down the car windows and just go! No need for AC in the car. I love to embrace nature's beauty and take in the fresh air.
On this hot Kentucky day, I drove down my favorite road in the entire state, Paris Pike, which is the main road connecting Lexington, Kentucky to Paris, Kentucky. To read more about this road, click here and see why it is so special.
I had an appointment in Paris (Bourbon County). The home I toured today was beautiful. The home was built in 1869 and played a huge role in the horse industry. That is really all I can say right now, but check out these two pictures I snapped on my visit. More details will be forthcoming very soon! (On Right is the Door knocker. Home built by father & given to son as a wedding gift)
Tomorrow looks to be yet another busy day. I will be meeting with some clients who just recently purchase a horse farm in Lexington, Kentucky. We are meeting with the inspector tomorrow to make sure the home gets a clean bill of health. Another busy day and school starts back tomorrow here in Lexington-Fayette County. Better leave a few minutes early to beat the back to school traffic rush! Good thing I love my job & summer heat! If you watch the national news, they say real estate is dead. So how could I drive past the home of the Lexington Legends minor league baseball team and not snap a quick picture? I love this place! Applebee's Park, the official home of the Lexington Legends is truly one of my favorite ways to enjoy summer time in Lexington.
There is nothing like spending a warm summer evening at the park watching great baseball and experiencing all the fun and excitement that is minor league baseball.

The Lexington Legends have been Lexington's baseball team since 2001 and have provided us years of fun and excitement season after season. Several years ago even future baseball Hall of Fame candidate Roger Clemons, suited up to pitch a game for the Legends. Yes, THE Roger Clemons! The game was carried live by ESPN and various other national media outlets. So if you are a Lexington resident or just visiting for the weekend, get out to the park and watch the boys play! Lots of great family fun, peanuts, popcorn and Cracker Jacks!

Hello Everyone! I hope your week is off to a great start! It sure has been exactly 2 weeks since I last blogged! And I must say, it has been hard to do much of anything except show houses. I've had clients in from Florida and New Mexico and it's a good thing I love my job, because I have been busy showing tons of homes and many horse farm properties. Lexington is covered in a blanket of the white fluffy stuff! Overnight Lexington saw a good 3-4 inches cover the roads and the landscape. They are forecasting another 2-3 inches later today and when it is all said and done, Lexington should see between 5-8 inches of snow. As I was out this morning snapping a few pictures for my website, I was stopped by a WKYT TV crew and Reporter Janet Kim. I did a quick interview on road conditions and how the Lexington neighborhoods were being cleared by road crews (I will try to get a copy of the video). It sure was extremely cold just being out for a few short minutes. If you must go out, drive safe and allow for extra time to reach your destination. Of course, dress in layers too! Even though the snow is very beautiful, I�m so ready for springtime in Lexington, Kentucky! Keenelend, the Kentucky Derby and the Derby parties are the highlights of springtime in Kentucky. Hurry up Mother Nature and get spring here for us Kentuckians!

Since it is so cold and snowy outside, I was just looking back on some of the pictures I took in downtown Lexington, Kentucky this past fall. I love this picture taken in Gratz Park near the Transylvania University campus. Gratz Park is my favorite downtown park and it is located between Second and Third streets in Lexington, Kentucky. This picture is a nice flashback of warmer times here in Lexington and is a good reminder that winter will soon be over and we will soon be able to get out and enjoy the Lexington area. The beautiful fall foliage is highlighted by this statue in Gratz Park. In the background, on the right you will see the Kincaid Towers building, a 22- story office building that serves as the home of Central Bank and Trust Company and WLVK radio, just to name a few. On the left side of the picture, check out the Big Blue Building as it is commonly called. This building is known as the Lexington Financial Center. It houses Fifth Third Bank and other financial institutions.
Just remember the worst of the winter is already behind us (fingers crossed) and we are just weeks away from spring. When the weather warms up, make it a point to get out, get downtown, get local and explore our community. Lexington has a great deal of history, historic sites, pretty views, nice parks, great shopping and dinning and thriving arts. Put on your walking shoes and get moving! You just might like what you find downtown Lexington!

This weekend the most prestigious cheerleading squad in the land, the University of Kentucky cheerleaders will work their magic at the Universal Cheerleaders Association competition in Orlando, Florida as they will compete for an unprecedented 18th national championship.

Championships titles and rave reviews are nothing new for the Kentucky squad as they are regarded as THE absolute finest cheer program in America. The squared is often featured on national TV and newspapers across the county. The squad has performed live on the Today Show and been featured on the CBS Evening News, the CBS Morning Show, ESPN and has been seen in GQ, Seventeen and many more.
The Kentucky squad has won the Universal Cheerleaders Association National College Cheerleading Championship an unprecedented seventeen times, in 1985, 1987, 1988, 1992, 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2008, and 2009 - more than any other Division 1A school. UK's squad is the only team to win back to back championships twice, once in 1987 and 1988 and again in 1995 and 1996. Further, UK is the only squad ever to win three, four, five, six, seven and eight championships in a row.

On a recent visit to downtown Lexington, I snapped this picture of the oversized banner promoting the 225th anniversary of the First Presbyterian Church.
